Gravel Royale: FAQ’s, Packing List, and Other “Need to Know” Details.

Hello Royal Gravellers!

We are so close to the start of TransRockies Gravel Royale!! We know most of you are starting to pack up and start your travels soon. and we’d like to help with those pre-race jitters by answering some of the frequently asked and need to know questions for the event. Here we go! We wish you all safe travels getting out to Panorama.

Parking and Camping at Panorama

  • If you are camping at Panorama, you must book an RV spot with Panorama directly: https://www.transrockiesgravelroyale.com/s/Event-Camping-TransRockies-2021.pdf

  • All RV camping and parking is in the lower parking lot – RVs are not allowed in the upper parking lot.

  • If you are leaving a vehicle for the duration of the event, all parking is at the horse corals above the lower parking lot. You must have a permit displayed which you can pick up at package pickup.

  • If you are bringing an RV to the stages, you will need to purchase an RV parking pass – this can be added to your online registration – refer to your confirmation email for the link to modify your registration.

Transfers and Shuttles

If you have booked an airport transfer or post-event transfer, you will be receiving an email this week from our Operations Manager, Ryan Blondia, with details about specifically where and when to meet for these transfers.

Dietary Restrictions

Please fill out our Dietary Restrictions form to ensure that our caterers are prepared to feed you! Please complete the form whether or not you have restrictions or allergies to give us a sense of proportions. 

Day 0 Details

  • Upon arrival at Panorama, you can check into your accommodations at Central Check-In located on the right after you cross the bridge to enter the resort.

  • Package Pickup will be from 2-6 PM in the Copper Crown Room which is located right next to the Upper Parking Lot.

  • At package pickup you will receive your starter jersey, duffel bag, and number plate. You will also have the chance to purchase Gravel Royale merchandise and bear spray if you need it.

  • You will be able to book and pay for your massages for the event.

  • Opening Ceremonies will be held from 7-8 PM on the patio of the Great Hall at the Ski Tip lodge. There will also be a BBQ dinner available for purchase here. Part of the ceremonies will be the rider briefing, course briefing, and Q&A.

Waivers

We need everyone to sign 2 waivers for the event – you can sign them on site upon arrival or save time by signing them in advance!

  • TransRockies Waiver – print and sign HERE.

  • Panorama Waiver – sign online HERE.

Luggage Details

  • You will be receiving a duffel bag at package pickup. This is a 36-inch duffel that is approx. 120L in volume. You will load this duffel with everything you need for the duration of the event including your sleeping bag and pad. Everything else will be transported through to the end of the event.

  • Luggage drop will be available in the Upper Parking Lot from 3-7 PM for your “Through Luggage”, including bike boxes, which will be unloaded at the end of the event.

  • You will be able to drop your duffel bag on the morning of Stage 1 in the upper parking lot between 6-7:30 AM. The duffel bag will be available at the Stage 1 finish at Nipika and will again be loaded and unloaded for Canal Flats and Fernie finishes.

  • If you are doing the 2-day, we will have colored tape available to mark your through luggage for unloading on stage 2 in Nipika.

Mechanics and Bike Wash

  • Mechanics will be on site at the finish of stages 1-3, as well as at sign on.

  • If you are not on the VIP program, service is available on a pay as you go basis.

  • Bike washes will be set up at all stage finishes. For the final stage the bike wash station is at Gear Hub Sports, our Fernie retail partner. 

It is recommended that you bring some spare parts for your bike, see the full list here: https://www.transrockiesgravelroyale.com/tech-package. Mechanics will have some parts available but bringing your own ensures that what you need will be available.

Extra Luggage and Bike Boxes

  • All your gear for the week needs to fit into one large duffel bag (approx. 120L). 

  • Your bike box and extra luggage with extra clothing for traveling etc,. will be transported directly to the finish line. 

  • Please make sure that all your luggage is clearly identified.
